French name : Igname sauvage

Latin name : Dioscorea villosa

Type : Extract

Known properties : Traditionally used for gastrointestinal irritation, abdominal cramps and alleviate pain associated with arthritis and menstruations.

Contains : Wild yam (root) (Dioscorea villosa), ratio 1:5, purified water, 27% natural grain alcohol.

Description : Wild yam is known to lower blood lipid levels and reduce symptoms of menopause. It is also used to treat inflammation, inadequate bladder spasms, flatulence, colic, neuralgia, dysmenorrheal, reduce pregnancy nausea and prevent miscarriage.

This plant has generated renewed interest in the middle of the twentieth century when it was discovered that it was rich in diosgenin, a compound that could be turned into cortisone, estrogen or progesterone. Diosgenin of wild yam has been extensively used for the industrial manufacture of contraceptive pills and topical corticosteroids.

Recommended dosage : 1/2 tsp 3 times daily or as recommended by your health care practitioner.

Cautions and warnings : Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding. Women with hormone-dependant disease (ovary, breast, uterus, endometriosis, uterine fibroids cancers) should avoid taking wild yam, due to its possible estrogenic activity. Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms persist or worsen.

Adverse reactions : None known.

Size : 100 ml
