Contains : Rhodiola (root) (Rhodiola rosea), ratio 1:5, purified water, 27% natural grain alcohol.
Description : Mood stimulant and anti-depressive ; the rosavin and salidroside, two essential active ingredients present in this root, stimulate transport of serotonin precursors, and increase its availability in the brain. Rhodiola is an effective remedy against depression and particularly SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), or seasonal depression due to lack of sunlight in winter. It exerts a positive influence on higher nervous activity in improving attention, memory and concentration, by an average increasing og 30% the levels of serotonin, dopamine and other neurotransmitters in the brain, and lower about 60% COMT rates, or catechol-O-methyltransferase enzyme, which enzyme degrades serotonin and dopamine. Moreover, it appears that rhodiola, substantially reduces the adverse the adverse effects of tricyclic antidepressants used in traditional medicine and can significantly shorten the time to stay in hospital of interned persons for major depression.
It is also known as a muscle tonic : it increase performance in athletes and boosts resistance to stress, as a cardio-protective and a regulator of cardiac muscle: it normalizes the heartbeat immediately after strenuous exercise and it lengthens the phase of cardiac contraction and lowers blood pressure in parallel. It has excellent anti-mutagenic and antioxidant properties. It is a liver protestor and a muscle tonic. Recommended dosage : 15 to 30 drops 2 to 3 times daily or as recommended by your health care practitioner.
Cautions and warnings : Use with caution for patients with bipolar disorder (manic depression), rhodiola could trigger episodes of mental excitement (mania). Do not use if pregnant.
Adverse reactions: Excitement and agitation may occur. In this case, it is advisable to decrease the dosage and then increase gradually. Avoid taking rhodiola in the evening to not disturb sleep.
